Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire provides the most renewable power of any single location in the UK, enough electricity to power the equivalent of four million homes. This 12-month placement is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working for a nationally significant asset.

Joining our Control & Instrumentation Engineering team, you’ll be able to put your learning into practice working on a range of projects and upgrades. From supporting day-to-day modifications to our existing control systems (including PLCs, DCS and SCADA systems), to working on a major outage and supporting NIS regulation compliance and adoption of IEC62443, this is truly a varied role.

You’ll receive a comprehensive welcome and induction to Drax and can look forward to a structured development plan of learning on our ICE training scheme. Our student ‘Power up’ development programme has been designed to provide you with a selection of essential and technical skills, and the opportunity to develop your business acumen and personal development.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be:

  • Working towards a BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering or a related subject
  • Currently enrolled in a course that allows for a 12-month industrial placement
  • Willing to travel to our site in Selby from Monday to Friday each week
