About the role: Reporting to the Security Systems Manager, the Senior Security Systems Engineer will play a key role in maintaining, fault finding, optimising, and upgrading the wider Drax security systems infrastructure. This includes ensuring the effective operation of CCTV, access control, perimeter detection, and associated security technologies across all Drax sites in the UK and overseas.
As a Senior Security Systems Engineer, you’ll work proactively to identify vulnerabilities, support system resilience, and implement improvements that enhance overall security performance. You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and contractors to deliver a stable, secure, and future ready security platform that supports both operational needs and regulatory requirements. This role will require travel to sites throughout the UK as required, and there may be times where you’ll be working away from home. Additionally, you’ll be required to be on-call 1 week in every 4, as the team provides 24/7 support. In return you’ll receive an on-call allowance as part of the package on offer.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
- Work with the team to provide expert support on Drax’s security infrastructure including CCTV, access control, intruder, perimeter intrusion detection, barrier, gates, and turnstile systems
- Manage and coordinate third party contractors and suppliers, ensuring safe working practices, clear briefs, compliance with site rules, accurate RAMS, and delivery of work to a high standard.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical queries, performance monitoring, and signoff of works.
- Deliver assigned security projects in scope and on time.
- Assist the Security Systems Analyst and Security Systems Apprentice with the daily BAU tasks
- Join the teams on call rota, to provide support to the business 24/7

Who we’re looking for: You’ll have experience working on enterprise integrated security systems, ideally within a large industrial environment. You’ll have a full UK driving licence and be happy to work away from home when required and to commit to an on-call team rota. You’ll also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Good understanding of CCTV network technologies, infrastructure and processes
- Experience installing, fault finding and maintaining large enterprise IP CCTV systems, Access Control systems, Intruder Detection Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems.
- Good knowledge of Cisco or equivalent network switching and core networking principles relevant to security system architecture.
- Experience in maintaining, fault finding and installing large intruder alarm systems.
- Excellent documentation skills
- Strong personal commitment to safety
