About the role: As part of the Hydro Team, the Engineering Services Manager will:

  • Be part of leading the strategic direction for Cruachan to optimise performance, risk, and cost.
  • Oversee and manage technical risk governance.
  • Partner with Plant and Managers to ensure efficient, reliable operations and long-term asset integrity.
  • Develop and assess business cases to drive performance improvements.
  • Champion safety and environmental standards through clear targets and initiatives.
  • Support capital budgeting, outage delivery, and monthly investment tracking.
  • Identify long-term capital needs aligned with safety, compliance, and market demands.
  • Provide technical management of plant modifications and change initiatives.
  • Oversee contracts and compliance (CDM, PUWER, PSSR, LOLER) and support key site services.
  • Lead, develop and manage Technical Services team performance and capability.
  • Set objectives, monitor delivery, and drive continuous improvement in plant and team performance.
  • Lead and contribute to key operational, engineering, safety, and project meetings.
  • Ensure resources, compliance systems, and processes support safe, efficient operations.
  • Manage change, audits, and compliance to meet regulatory and business standards.

Who we’re looking for: To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have:

  • A degree in engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven leadership experience in power, engineering, maintenance, or operations.
  • A strong understanding of hydro technologies and asset optimisation strategies.
  • Solid commercial awareness, including finance, procurement, and contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
  • A track record of delivering results in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams with high engagement and strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, able to develop team capability.
  • An analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data for decision-making.
  • Experience with technical specifications, tendering, contractor management, and HSE compliance.
