As an Engineer within the Civil Engineering Team, you’ll be a Drax Power Station Civil subject matter expert. You’ll be accountable for technical excellence, with the expertise to make key engineering decisions. You’ll have the responsibility of liaising with and managing a large consultancy and contractor resource.

About the role: You’ll be supporting the Lead Engineer to deliver the Business Plan, providing a key contribution to the development of strategies to maintain ageing and the construction of new civil assets. You’ll be a key member of the Civil Engineering Team supporting fellow team members as well as being a point of contact for Civil engineering enquiries. You’ll manage internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the team – including internal departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and designers and produce specifications and project scoping documents. You’ll ensure the delivery of work packages are to the required standard and manage any risks. You’ll be accountable for delivering compliance against legislative, statutory, corporate and site policy and procedures so you’ll need to have strong commercial and contract management awareness. As an Engineer you’ll be responsible for contract management including negotiating and tendering of contracts, specification of work, risk assessments and the supervision of contractor work. A large part of this role is collaboratively working within both the Civil Engineering team and other departments. You’ll be flexible and able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for a team player who will get stuck into all aspects of the day to day business as usual activities as well as specialist enquiries, we’re a small team so you’ll need to be able to support and cover others when needed.
About you: To be successful in this role you’ll be technically competent with the ability to review designs, calculation packs and methodologies to British Standards, Eurocodes and Temporary Works. You’ll have previous design experience as either a consultant or design manager for a contractor coupled with experience in the construction industry managing civil infrastructure and building projects. You’ll be an exceptional communicator being able to communicate well at all levels within the business and manage multiple stakeholders and workstreams. And finally, you’ll have a relevant university degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
