About the role
Working in the Cruachan project team you’ll be responsible for the mechanical engineering on the Cruachan Power Station Unit 3 and 4 Upgrade Project. This includes the replacement of the generator, turbine, governor and associated auxiliary systems. Unit 3 will be refurbished in 2026 and Unit 4 in 2027. You’ll ensure that all the Mechanical works on this project meet the relevant standards to ensure that the new units will deliver the required performance enable Drax to deliver its key business objectives ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
- Playing a key role in delivering the scope of works including managing the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of large mechanical rotating plant
- Ensuring that all design documentation is correctly recorded
- Being a technical authority for mechanical engineering on the Unit 3 and 4 project, while understanding the wider technical requirements within Drax
- Provide professional support and guidance to other members of the Engineering Team
- Provide full handover of the new equipment to the Operations and Maintenance team
Who we’re looking for
To be successful in this role you’ll be degree level qualified in a relevant engineering discipline and ideally be a chartered Engineer (or equivalent) of a relevant institute i.e. IMechE or IET. You’ll have extensive relevant work experience in the Mechanical Engineering industry. A NEBOSH or IOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent would also be beneficial.
