About the role

As part of the Finance Systems Team, the Assistant Accountant will:

  • Support the Drax financial control framework, ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies, estimates and judgements.
  • Assist with the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of manual journals.
  • Prepare and reconcile key monthly balance sheet accounts, resolving any variances.
  • Provide support on accounting and tax queries within the Business Unit.
  • Manage transactional accounting, including processing bank statements across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Accurately record treasury-related transactions within finance ledgers.
  • Handle high-value postings with strong attention to detail and adherence to controls.

Who we’re looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have:

  • A part-qualification – ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or qualified by experience).
  • Strong attention to detail with a solid understanding of financial controls.
  • Experience using financial systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, confident, and flexible in approach.
  • Adaptable, able to work independently and lead by example.
