Drax Altus is supporting a confidential mandate to appoint a Partner to a newly evolving direct investment platform focused on venture and growth-stage investing. The organisation has access to significant capital and a long-term mandate to invest in innovative, impact-oriented businesses across a variety of sectors.
This is a rare opportunity to join at a senior level, working closely with the leadership team to shape strategy, execute investments, build relationships, and influence platform development. The role combines the commercial rigour of private capital with a clear focus on capital preservation, economic value creation, and long-term impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role includes but is by no means limited to the following:
Deal Origination & Execution
- Lead the sourcing, diligence, and execution of investments into UK-based operating companies.
- Apply a structured and risk-aware investment approach, leveraging a strong network and market knowledge to identify compelling opportunities.
- Structure capital solutions that may span equity, structured equity, and credit-adjacent instruments, tailored to business needs and return requirements.
- Partner with management teams to support growth, transformation, or consolidation strategies.
- Monitor performance and contribute to strategic decision-making at the board level.
- Maintain a focus on capital efficiency and long-term value preservation.
Strategic Leadership
- Play a leading role in refining the platform’s investment thesis, sector focus, and operating model.
- Support internal team development and contribute to a culture of accountability, purpose, and high performance.
- Act as a thought partner to senior stakeholders on broader investment strategy and market positioning.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Experience: Significant experience in private capital investing, ideally in venture or growth equity
- Investment Acumen: Proven ability to originate, structure, and execute investments in operating businesses.
- Commercial Judgement: Strong risk/reward instincts, with a pragmatic and analytical approach to structuring and execution.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with a broad range of internal and external partners, including capital providers and portfolio leadership teams.
- Leadership: Comfortable operating in a build-phase environment, contributing to both strategic and operational aspects of platform growth.
