Drax Executive have been retained by a Private Equity Backed Industrials 'buy & build' business to secure a Group Head of FP&A, reporting directly into the CFO. This is a newly created strategic hire for this Small Cap business who will be looking to grow a sizeable group through its aggressive M&A agenda. They are looking for a proven FP&A leader with a track record of developing internal processes and growing teams within acquisitive environments. You will be a visible leader within their London HQ with an expectation of circa 2-3 days per week in the office and ad-hoc travel across the UK when required to businesses within the group.
THE ROLE: The Head of FP&A is a key strategic partner to the CFO and executive team, responsible for driving performance management, strategic forecasting, and value creation across the Group. This will initially be a sole / 'hand on' position building out the function with remit to hire and grow out a team as the business grows.
- Lead & integrate financial planning and reporting across multiple operating companies, annual budget, and rolling forecasts, ensuring alignment with the investment thesis and PE value-creation plan.
- Partner with the CFO and Private Equity stakeholders to model strategic scenarios, assess ROI on growth initiatives.
- Translate the Group's strategic priorities into measurable financial and operational targets.
- Lead Group management reporting, analysis and insight, ensuring transparency and comparability across all operating companies.
- Monthly/quarterly investor reporting and covenant, building exit-readiness models and value creation tracking against the investment thesis.
- Develop and enhance KPI frameworks to track business performance, cash flow, and working capital across divisions.
- Support new acquisitions, onboarding them financially, aligning reporting formats and ensuring they integrate smoothly into group forecasts and investor reporting.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO, and divisional leadership teams, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.
- Build strong relationships with the board, supporting regular performance reviews, Board packs, and ad-hoc analyses.
- Standardise and streamline FP&A processes across the Group to improve speed, accuracy, and transparency.
- Implement and optimise FP&A systems and tools to enable efficient data consolidation and scenario modelling.
- Drive automation of reporting and establish consistent data governance across operating companies.
- Statutory reporting, tax computations, external audit collaborating with all external parties.
THE REQUIREMENTS: Progressive FP&A / Commercial Finance experience, including leadership exposure. Exposure to M&A. Proven experience in a private equity–backed, high-growth, or leveraged environment. Expertise in financial modelling, performance analysis, and scenario planning. Proven case studies of developing and driving the ongoing development and efficiency of internal processes. Advanced proficiency with Excel and FP&A/BI tools (e.g., Power BI). Able to commit to a minimum of 2-3 days per week at London HQ and flexible to spend time at other sites across the UK when required.
