Asian Art, English and European Ceramics Specialist

Our client, a respected regional auction house, is seeking an Asian Art, English and European Ceramics Specialist to take ownership of the department, and drive it forward to new levels of success. This role is envisaged as hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week based in the office, with the rest of the time given to business getting. Responsibilities will include:

• Build a pipeline of consignments for auction, and build on the network of established clients to include new clients
• Undertake valuations and catalogue works for Auction both in the office and on house visits
• Produce condition reports and research, and assist with auction preparation, viewings and administration where necessary, ensuring that items are properly prepared and displayed for public viewing
• Work closely with colleagues to support the smooth execution of auctions
• Participate in marketing and valuations events at both offices
• Training and developing of staff where appropriate

About You

• The candidate will have previous experience as a Ceramics Specialist, with knowledge of Asian Art
• Well developed client facing skills
• You will be comfortable and have a good knowledge of the Art market
• Happy to work alone at times, but also work collaboratively with the team in the office
• Effective process management, including ability to work to strict deadlines
• Versatility and ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Diligent follow-up skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel
• Ability to work collaboratively, team player
• Full driving license
