Draper & Nichols is a well-established Norwich based Building Contractor that has been delivering high quality building Services since 1960. We’re a medium – sized contractor managing projects up to £4 million. Known for value, craftsmanship and timely delivery, we invest in our team to stay current with new methods, technology and regulations / standards. We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our efficient, professional and dedicated team. Your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: * Monitor relevant planning authority web sites and advertisements in the local press to identify work opportunities. * Undertake some estimating duties when required. * As part of tender submission team you will assess tender documents to ensure sufficient information is available to prepare tender. * Take off and check off quantities against client schedules of information, requirements, and expectations, and highlight any omissions or errors. * Prepare and issue sub-contract enquiries and undertake robust assessment of quotations upon receipt. * Prepare specifications and / or Contractors proposals. * Undertake post tender negotiations. * Assist in the maintaining of the sub-contract data base. * Maintain contract documentation and advise on pre tender and post contract matters. * Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients, consultants and / or sub-contractors * Undertake post contract liaison with clients and design team * As part of the team you will, with others, negotiate with sub-contractors and subsequently order the work. * Measure and value construction works off plan and on site. * Accurately price, negotiate and agree contractual variations. * Minimise costs of projects and maximise profitability, without compromising our high standard of workmanship and quality. * Prepare and submit accurate and timely interim valuations * Prepare and submit accurate and timely final accounts. * Agree final accounts. * Provide advice and guidance on contractual issues. * Highlight and mitigate risks to Health and Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Profitability of construction sites. You will have an excellent knowledge of all elements of building construction, be methodical and demonstrate good negotiation skills and ideally qualified to degree level in Quantity Surveying.
