The Microelectronics Integration & Test group at Draper is seeking a Fall Co-op to work as an Integration & Test Engineer within multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize, develop, analyze, and/or assess robust microelectronics solutions for a wide variety of applications, including defense systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance engineering solutions to challenging problems.
  • Implement, test, perform analysis, and provide documentation support.
  • Generate and present test reports including plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions from data collected and analyzed throughout the test process.
  • Complete assignments designed to develop a practical knowledge of processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and systems as well as their interrelationships within engineering disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Project areas may include:

  • Development of high-level test concepts, test plans, and detailed test procedures in support of functional, acceptance, and environmental test programs.
  • Development of test infrastructure in support of functional, acceptance, and environmental test programs.
  • Development of test software for data acquisition and processing scripts for data analysis.
  • Data processing and analysis for system performance and requirements verification and model validation.
  • Functional test and debug of circuit card assemblies using standard laboratory equipment (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.).
  • Hands-on use of large-scale test equipment (e.g., rate tables, centrifuges, thermal, humidity, and pressure chambers).
  • Custom test cable and/or fixture design, build, integration, and verification.

Program Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering curriculum full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program required.
  • Co-op Students must be able to work full-time for a 6 month period.
  • There is flexibility regarding hours and program duration based on applicant's school schedule and availability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Student in their Junior or Senior year of a Bachelor’s Degree Program or Master’s Degree Program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Ideal candidate will be a self-directed learner comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and must have a clearly exceptional academic record.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, are essential.
  • Ability to effectively present results in both formal and informal settings.
  • Experience working with commercial electronic test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with sensors, microelectronics, digital design, autonomous systems, guidance/navigation/control, avionics, astrophysics, mixed-signal electronics, communication protocols, embedded firmware.
  • Experience working with and interpreting design documentation (e.g., assembly drawings and parts lists, fabrication drawings, design descriptions, electrical schematics).
  • Experience with tests: Electrical Overstress (EOS), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), Accelerated Life Test (ALT), burn-in, latch-up, workmanship, ESD/EMI/EMC susceptibility, vibration, shock, pressure, temperature, and relative humidity.
  • Experience interfacing with, operating, and troubleshooting environmental test equipment (rate tables, shakers, impact testers, thermal, humidity, and pressure chambers).
  • Experience integrating hardware and software components for complex systems.
  • Experience automating and optimizing test infrastructure and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with DOORS, LabView, MATLAB, Python, SysML, Jira, Git, Linux.
  • Active government security clearance.

  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
