The Role
We are currently recruiting for a HR Business Partner. As the HR Business Partner, you are responsible for delivering the operational elements of the HR Strategy (which is directly aligned to achieving our business goals). You will be a key partner to the Senior HRBP and Group HR VP, inputting your thoughts into the HR Strategy. You will need to deliver across the full range of HR activities; from managing employee relations cases, promoting EDI and talent management, to presenting L&D workshops and conducting regular site visits. You will work as a partner with a variety of stakeholders ranging from employees, functional managers, the Senior Leadership Team and the Senior HRBP and Group HR VP. You will need to be confident with influencing and challenging these stakeholders and be comfortable standing firm on difficult or unpopular decisions. Whilst there will be guidance from the Senior HR Leadership, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable owning and delivering your workload with limited management. A resilient and approachable style is essential in order to promote our HR culture of providing a top-level professional coaching service to our stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the company objectives by delivering the operational elements of the HR strategy.
- Responsible for proactively providing advice and guidance on the full scope of HR processes and policies and coaching managers and employees in how to apply these.
- Accountable for ensuring that all employment practices such as hiring, promotions, demotions and disciplinary and grievances are conducted in compliance with employment law, company policy and best practice.
- Responsible for the preparation and delivery of monthly people metrics and key data, by actively engaging with key stakeholders across the company.
- Support the development of the people resource plans by working alongside the Recruitment team to ensure the functional areas are supported and fully equipped with the required SQEP (suitably qualified and equipped personnel).
- Provide subject matter expertise, advice and guidance on HR and policy interpretation and liaising with the HR Advisors on current cases within the business.
- To support the delivery of performance management processes and associated activities to ensure consistency, fairness and compliance with HR best practice (including ACAS Codes UK).
- Lead on change management processes, such as redundancy, reorganisation, ER consultation processes as the change agent to support and facilitate the desired change.
- Ensure that all HR processes and activities are deployed in line with company and in-country employment legislation, practices, policies and procedures.
- Support the company wellbeing initiatives in line with the HR Strategy.
- Support and deliver quarterly training workshops across the business on HR topics such as performance management, investigation training etc.
- Support the Senior HRBP in various HR projects and activities such as compensation decisions, talent reviews and succession planning and development activities.
- As directed by the Senior HRBP, provide HR support and advice into commercial bid work as and when required.
- Travel to our UK bases is essential in this role. Our key bases are located in Bournemouth, Teesside and Culdrose. We also have three other bases in the UK which require security clearance. Travel to all UK bases is within your control to manage and plan in accordance with the wider HR team.
Stakeholder Management
- Provide stakeholder support to employees, line managers and senior leaders, deploying a high standard of HR professional advice and drawing on best practice to apply a first-class HR service.
- Support the wider HR team in managing the relationships with our recognised unions, attending meetings and delivering presentations as required. These include direct trade union meetings as well as engagement with our Employee Representative Group.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
- Be an HR ambassador for the EDI Committee, engaging in the EDI meetings and representing HR.
- Champion HR initiatives to support EDI throughout our Company.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum Level 7 CIPD HR qualification.
- Active CIPD Chartered Membership.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Extensive HR experience and a strong, demonstrable knowledge of UK employment law.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to be accountable for own workload and work autonomously.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving/judgement skills.
- High confidence in providing a supportive HR consultancy service to all key stakeholders across the business.
- Ability to be assertive and challenge managers to be accountable in their decision making.
