Dragon Argent is an SRA-regulated professional services firm that specialises in working with high potential SMEs and, increasingly, with HNWIs. We have three core disciplines in advisory, accountancy (including tax) and legal. You will not only be required to manage the delivery of quality legal services to our clients, but you are expected to also be actively involved in the business development of the department, providing strategy and vision.

The Role - 12 month fixed term contract maternity leave cover. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role covers both internal and external duties:

  • Advise clients on contentious and non-contentious employment law issues, including hiring and firing, reorganisations, performance management, redundancy, director and founder exits, leaves of absence, compensation and benefits, discrimination and harassment, settlement agreements and other employment-related matters.
  • Advise and manage, with minimal supervision, client Employment Tribunal cases.
  • Advise on, draft, maintain and review a variety of letters, contracts and policies for client employment matters.
  • Perform audits of client’s employment, HR documentation, processes and assist clients in developing and refining scalable employment processes and policies.
  • Provide bespoke employment advice on board level and founder disputes and founder exits.
  • Advise clients in managing employment risk appropriately across restrictive covenants, intellectual property, confidential information and data protection.

The role also extends to the following internal activities:

  • Managing/assisting with onboarding and offboarding of staff.
  • Manage internal operational processes.
  • Manage HR functions, creating and enforcing HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage the execution of internal HR strategy, recruitment, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management and reward and recognition.
  • Collaborate with other heads of departments to develop and deliver growth strategy.
  • Advise the ExCo and Board on internal staff management.
  • Control and manage all employment department (client facing) and internal (staff facing) templates, updating in line with changes in legislation, procedures, and best practice.
  • Participate in business development and client management initiatives.

About you - Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a PQE of 3 - 7 years. Highly diligent and organised. You will have a can-do attitude and do what it takes to excel in your role and to assist the company to excel. Proactive in gaining new clients and servicing current clients. Enthusiastic about speaking to clients, potential clients, potential partners, employees and any other stakeholders. Growth mindset, curious and keen to try new things and learn more while driving growth and profitability. Able to work independently and as a team member with all levels of the business. Warm and approachable. Excellent English – written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. You will be a practical problem solver.
