About The Role

  • Support the introduction of new products concerning all supplier quality, first article inspection approval and related processes; drive and coordinate First Article Inspection activities to ensure efficient part qualification.
  • Interface with Suppliers, R&D, Operations and Purchasing to drive continuous quality improvements that minimize the Costs of Quality, Field Failures, and Factory defects.
  • Specify and develop incoming inspection acceptance/test procedures relating to products/components.
  • Write FAI quality plan requirements together with R&D and perform FAI.
  • Support identification and resolution of non-Conforming material including corrective and preventive actions to continuously improve the supplier reject rate.
  • Provide direct, daily support to “keep production running” with regard to supplier quality related issues.
  • Collaborate, train and mentor supplier representatives in best practices in quality systems, process and controls methods, problem solving and statistical tools.
  • Maintain quality relevant master data in SAP.
  • Perform supplier quality audits for supplier approval, surveillance, or process/product approvals.

The tasks and responsibilities above are typical of the duties the postholder will be expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar nature and level may be required from time to time.

Education/Qualifications

  • HND or Equivalent as a minimum in an Engineering discipline (Degree desirable).

Related Experience

  • Experience in a Quality role, preferably in supplier development.
  • Regular use of APQP and PPAP would be desirable.
  • A thorough understanding of Engineering drawings & specifications.
  • Experienced in performing Supplier Process Audits.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction Process.

Skills, Special Competencies

  • IT Literate – Microsoft packages, SAP experience preferred but not essential.
  • Prepared to travel as required (UK & Abroad).
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Good team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
