About The Role
Ensure service assistance & operational requirements as directed (geographically, by product line, by task, etc.) for customer satisfaction and achievement of department/company goals & targets. The post requires a qualified professional medical service engineer-MVS (Multi‑Vendor Services) capable of acting on their initiative in dealing with various technical problems in the clinical area. The post holder’s main duties will be providing a broad range of support services for Draeger Multi‑Vendor services to clinical staff in the Milton Keynes University NHSFT hospital. Play a key role in ensuring that service levels are met efficiently and cost‑effectively in responsibility. A comprehensive information technology system (eQuip) will also be required for call logging, job control, and equipment history maintenance. The MVS Service Engineer—Systems will assist the MVS Site manager and other engineers with duties and tasks as required to improve hospital Clinical Engineering (CE) service performance and effectiveness.
Tasks And Responsibilities
- All employees are responsible for complying with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and minimising any environmental impact whilst carrying out their duties.
- Performs scheduled PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) maintenance visits and corrective repairs.
- Performs warranty/damaged repair of equipment and initiates the process to attain reimbursement from trust/user.
- Perform planned and Reactive maintenance on Draeger equipment on site.
- Effective Use of CRM and upkeeping of Test Equipment and stock levels.
- Performs installation and commissioning activities.
- To attend hours, callouts Loan testing of medical equipment with completion of documents as per trust policy and guidelines.
- Performs technical corrective actions per MHRA (Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) alerts/guidelines.
- Completes required company and trust documentation, such as electronic test procedures, as necessary.
- Provide feedback on the quality situation and issues from various users/departments to the Senior MVS Service Engineer.
- Works within the processes of Draeger Medical quality system & work instructions.
- Maintains company assets such as laptops, etc. & tools by company guidelines.
- Use appropriate test equipment and service tools and confirm that test equipment is correctly calibrated for maintenance and repair activities.
- Inform the other sections of Draeger MVS (Multi‑Vendor Services) when repairs or maintenance are within their area of responsibility.
- In conjunction with or at the request of the MVS (Multi‑Vendor Services) MVS Manager, interpret results from investigations and provide advice on the results.
- Provide written factual reports on complex or difficult investigations involving DATIX incidents.
- Always maintain a high concentration level and ensure adherence to safe working practices to ensure patients’ and staff’ continued safety of medical equipment.
- Ensure that all work on medical equipment is carried out accurately to maintain it to recognised safety standards and to ensure that it operates in accordance with its specified design parameters.
- Collect and deliver medical equipment.
- Undertake the safe manual handling of medical equipment in the workshop and all hospital sites.
- Ensure that advice/assistance given to clinical staff resolves issues with medical equipment in the patient environment where an urgent response is required to minimise the impact on patient care.
- Carry out work unsupervised in operating theatres and clinical areas that may be visibly disturbing.
- Undertake work on medical equipment that contains body fluid or pathological samples.
- Use chemicals in the maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure appropriate authorisation for working in high‑risk areas, e.g. Theatres, ICUs or Laboratories.
The post holder is responsible for complying with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Code of Practice on Confidentiality and Data Protection. To follow hospital/Draeger Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines. The post holder will be required to undertake any other duties according to the needs of the service. - Mentoring apprentice trainees and other engineers to complex systems under the MVS remit.
- Comprehensive management of Draeger IB and maintaining appropriate documentation on CRM.

Manager - MVS Manager Size of team/environment - MK MVS Team comprises 9 team members managing over 16000 assets spread over the MKUH NHSFT with over 3600 NHS staff.
Your Qualifications
Role Requirements Education/Qualifications Should have proven experience with a wide range of medical equipment & systems. Relevant experience is required, and a Degree, HND, or equivalent in electronic/electrical engineering or a related subject is preferred.
Related Experience
- Applicants for the position should have proven experience with medical equipment and knowledge of Anaesthetic and ventilation devices.
- Experience in Dialysis/Hemofiltration is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of hospital communication equipment and sound understanding of electronics.
- Used to deliver high customer care and deal face‑to‑face with customers.
- Experience in medical device support, including preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, calibration, quality control, safety, acceptance testing and health service procurement.
- Experience of medical equipment maintenance to component level.
- Experience in applying current medical equipment safety standards at work.
- Experience in word processing with strong written communication skills, including producing clear and professional letters and emails.
- Experience in spreadsheet use for effective data production/presentation.
- Experience of working as part of a team.

- VRCT membership.
- Full UK Driving license.
- Familiarity with NHS guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to organise and prioritise to meet a wide range of diverse & demanding activities.

- Good time management skills to allow continuity of process whilst multi‑tasking.
- Be able to travel to other sites and attend off‑site training courses, conferences, and seminars.
