About the role
- The effective and efficient development, management, operation and support of all mechanical building services, mechanical systems and equipment under the control of the Estates and Facilities function, throughout the UK & Ireland estate.
- Directly reporting to the Head of Estates & Facilities UK & Ireland, the role has sole responsibility for the effective and efficient management, operation and support of all mechanical building services, mechanical systems and equipment under the control of the Estates and Facilities function throughout the UK and Ireland. This includes :
- Commissioning & Monitoring of plant and systems including creation, management & delivery of maintenance schedules.
- Development, management, and maintenance of as built drawings.
- Selecting appropriate competent contractors to support the delivery of specialist services.
- Supporting the Facilities Contracts Administrator in commissioning and monitoring appropriate 3rd party service and support contracts.
- Working with customers & colleagues on a variety of problem-solving processes to improve safety, reliability, productivity & efficiency.
- Producing details of specifications & designs considering cost, safety, and times constraints.
- Managing projects utilising industry best practice principles & techniques.
- The role involves travel to premises across the whole estates portfolio as required to support departmental and overall business objectives.
- As a member of a small core team there is also a requirement on occasion to support & assist on more general FM tasks such as office moves, waste management and material movements.

Role Requirements
Education / Qualifications
- Minimum of level 4 qualification in mechanical engineering or related engineering subject is essential.
Related Experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a facilities / building service role within a manufacturing environment.
- Management of mechanical building services.
- Familiarity with HP (bar +) compressed air systems.
- Operating within safe systems of work.
- Ability to work on own initiative and adhere to strict deadlines.
Skills, Special Competencies
- Knowledge of current regulations and standards relevant to mechanical building services and systems.
- Knowledge of current regulations and standards relevant to compressed air e.g. The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).
- Swagelok small bore tubing designer and installer certifications are desirable.
- Assessed level membership of relevant professional body e.g., IMechE or CIBSE required.
- At or working towards Engineering council registration at EngTech or higher desirable.
- UK driving license.
