About The Role
- Support and/or lead small to medium sized product modification projects from concept through to design and production release.
- Identify and implement product design solutions to solve current product issues in manufacturing, material supply and at the customer.
- Assist with cost reduction projects that require R&D input.
- Provide R&D support including proto type development on customer specific tenders.

- Head of Engineering Excellence – Mechanical
Size of team/environment
- Approximately 8 people in direct team-based in Blyth, 21 people in mechanical engineering and approximately 75 in the R & D dept
Your Qualifications
Role Requirements
Education/Qualifications
- Degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical engineering or mechanical design
Related Experience
- Design experience in either electro/mechanical enclosures including sealing for harsh environments or pneumatic high-pressure systems is essential.
Skills, Special Competencies
- Experience in designing pneumatic systems – essential
- Demonstrated proficiency with Pro Engineer – desirable
- Experience in designing stamped, turned, and cast metal part- Experience in designing plastic injection molded parts – desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and team orientation
- Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering goals on time
- Experience of Six sigma and DFMA would be advantageous
- Experience in designing to EN and international standards
- Experience of working within the PPE safety industry (desirable)
