About The Role

  • Ensure all work is carried out to H&S standards – Lock out tag out (LOTO), Permit to work (PTW) for both contractors and Dräger personnel, all equipment requiring LOLER inspections are coordinated to ensure all lifting and slinging equipment is always within inspection date.
  • Perform planned maintenance activities and maintain a high level of PPM compliance >90% – coordinate with Production Supervisor for equipment access.
  • Control machine spares for area of responsibility – sourcing, ordering and organizing – utilize the vend machine for repetitive high volume consumable parts and other critical spares which can be controlled with this method.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work – in‑house breakdowns, corrective work and external contracted work from OEM suppliers and specialists – utilize the CMMS system (Maintain X) to ensure records and history is updated frequently and follow all work.
  • Work with production to ensure operator asset care checks are completed by the operators and any maintenance corrective actions are followed up and completed within the specified timeframe.
  • Undertake unplanned/breakdown repair activities liaising with production.
  • Provide out‑of‑hours maintenance support for all areas working shifts.
  • Undertake project work which will involve machine moves, installations, upgrades and improvements; involve setting up spares system for new and existing equipment, preventative maintenance records and operator asset care checks for operators.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and specialists to fault‑find and support machine reliability.
  • Utilise root cause analysis and complete breakdown reports to determine root cause and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and implement projects to increase productivity, reliability and uptime of automated equipment within manufacturing.
  • Take responsibility for 6S and housekeeping in own workshop and other areas used – 6S target >85%.
  • Assist with mentoring, training and guidance of apprentices, operators and other members of staff as required.
  • Attend meetings to provide technical support on breakdowns or work‑arounds when equipment has failed – dates for when countermeasures will be put in place and improved maintenance techniques.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to keep knowledge abreast with technology.
  • Occasional off‑site travel to visit machine builders, training or equipment inspections.

Education/Qualifications

  • Time served through an apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical or Electrical (essential).
  • H&S qualification – IOSH (preferred).

Related Experience

  • Experience of fault‑finding bespoke equipment – Mech & Elec (essential).
  • Experience in a high‑quality focused environment (essential).
  • Multi‑skilled technician – Mech/Elec (essential).

Desirable

  • CNC equipment – Mazak, Haas, GMC, Star.
  • Proven knowledge of PLC fault‑finding, modifications and upgrades.
  • Proven knowledge of inverter control.
  • Proven knowledge of control systems.
  • Proven knowledge of robotics.

Skills, Special Competencies

  • Desirable.
  • PLC trained (desired).
  • Fanuc robot trained (desired).
  • H&S – IOSH working/managing safely.
  • 18th Edition.
  • Permit to work knowledge & understanding.
