Job Summary
Responsible for the overall management and supervision of a large area of the project, multiple works packages and subcontractors, to key performance indicators (KPIs) on cost and programme, ensuring compliance with safety, quality & environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring effective planning, directing and coordination of construction works in assigned areas of the project.
- Driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development, and coaching.
- Reviewing and ensuring compliance with the Construction Phase Plan, all other management plans and the Works Information.
- Supporting and reporting to the Project Manager in all elements related to the construction, programme of works and commercial issues of the works.
- Overseeing the construction project, ensuring safe work processes are implemented and meeting specified requirements in terms of cost-effective delivery, quality, and timescale.
- Responsible for reviewing the schedule and estimated time required for the construction works and ensuring that various elements of the construction programme are completed on schedule.
- Responsible for implementation of the technical and engineering aspects of the works, including method statements, ITPs (Inspection Test Plan), construction process, engineering specifications, set out and measurement and quality control, certificate and compliance.
- Providing detailed Planned vs Actual data for all works within their area, knowing when to escalate to Construction Leadership where deviation from the Plan is evident.
- Ensuring that client requirements regarding functionality and standards are met, and that all quality, assurance, and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner.
- Supporting the preconstruction and construction teams in all aspects of construction delivery associated with your allocated package or area.
- Determining labour requirements and effective resource planning, ensuring construction resources are used effectively.
- Chairing regular subcontractor and team meetings discussing safety, production, and quality.
- Ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement); supporting site personnel during execution of the works; and ensuring that the area is clear once works are completed.
- Producing and maintaining daily records of progress of all construction activities on site (including personnel attendances, safety issues and constraints).
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Technical Skills And Competencies
- Knowledge of relevant construction methodology and processes, associated with scope of works.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and standards, and other relevant legislation pertaining to the scope of works.
- The ability to write reports keeping accurate records of incidents, issues and labour and plant resources.
- Able to create an environment where people can do their best work.
- The ability to organise and manage teams to work collaboratively towards achieving common goals, using effective delegation skills.
- Being accountable for own actions and taking responsibility for own and othersβ HS&W.
