The HSW Advisor is an integral member of the HSW Team and supports the Project in delivery of HSW requirements and best practice. The HSW Advisor can deputise for the HSW Manager/ Project HSW Lead as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that internal and external HSW requirements are complied with and that Project requirements are implemented.
- Maintain the HSW system, ensure it is operated across the project and provide training as necessary.
- Create/update HSW Dashboards as required.
- Undertake regular inspections/maintain visible presence on site.
- Proactively and positively engage with contractors and suppliers to effectively achieve the Dra and Project HSW goals.
- Provide HSW advice and mentor Project staff as required.
- Develop HSW briefings, toolbox talks and other communications as required, and support delivery.
- Develop, implement and review HSW documents as necessary.
- Monitor supply chain performance.
- Ensure remedial actions are implemented and closed out as required.
- Review sub-contractors’ risk assessments and method statements and ensure they are complied with.
- Ensure that the Project Induction delivery rota is up to date and that allocated staff attend their slots.
- Support project operational delivery staff in carrying out incident investigations, including root cause analysis and the development and dissemination of lessons learned.
- Review incident and other trends and recommend/take the necessary improvement measures and monitor implementation.
- Provide regular reports on HSW performance and compliance.
Technical skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of Information and Communications Technology systems.
- Knowledge of behavioural safety techniques.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of the HSW Team and Project Team.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Willing and able to act under own initiative.
- Actively support, promote and live the Dragados S4S HSW values.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
- Experience of relevant construction projects.
- Good knowledge of construction techniques and their HSW implications.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent minimum accreditation.
- TechIOSH membership minimum.
