We are recruiting an experienced Environmental Manager to play a key role across two high-profile projects: the Elephant & Castle Station Capacity Upgrade and a major new Data Centre development. This is an exciting opportunity to lead environmental performance on projects that are helping shape the future of transport infrastructure and digital connectivity.

As the Environmental Manager, you will lead environmental compliance, risk management and sustainability initiatives, ensuring adherence to environmental legislation, permits, planning requirements, contractual commitments and company management systems. You will drive environmental excellence, carbon reduction and continual improvement, leaving a lasting impact across both projects from construction through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Leadership
    • Act as the lead environmental advisor to project and construction teams.
    • Promote a positive environmental culture and drive environmental best practice.
    • Deliver environmental training, briefings and awareness initiatives across the workforce and supply chain.
  • Compliance & Environmental Management
    • Implement and maintain ISO 14001-aligned Environmental Management Systems.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences, consents, planning conditions and client requirements.
    • Lead environmental inspections, audits, monitoring programmes and incident investigations.
    • Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans and compliance documentation.
  • Environmental Performance & Sustainability
    • Identify environmental risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
    • Support pollution prevention, waste management, resource efficiency, biodiversity and environmental protection initiatives.
    • Contribute to energy, carbon and sustainability objectives, including PAS 2080 and project-specific sustainability requirements where applicable.
    • Monitor environmental performance and drive continual improvement.
  • Stakeholder & Supply Chain Management
    • Liaise with regulators, clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
    • Review environmental performance across the supply chain and support environmental assurance activities.
    • Support regulatory inspections, client audits and certification requirements.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant environmental management experience within construction, infrastructure, civil engineering or other complex project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems and Environmental Management Plans.
  • Proven experience of audits, inspections, incident management and compliance monitoring.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
