The BIM Coordinator manages and ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration of BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows, acting as the link between different disciplines, coordinating digital models and ensuring that project data is consistent, accessible, and that the project follows established BIM and digital standards. They contribute to the production of all BIM related guides and specifications from client requirements and develop software solutions to enhance project processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Coordination and Integration for the project team for all the construction phases from early design to handover.
- Manage clash detection to identify and resolve conflicts between models including putting process into place for sub-contractors to follow.
- Work closely with the Model Manager, ensuring smooth BIM information flows.
- Oversee quality checks as built, or any other graphical data required for the completion of the project.
- Define and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and guidelines across all teams involved in the project set out by client or stakeholders.
- Perform regular audits to verify that all model data aligns with client or stakeholder's specifications.
- Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related issues, bridging communication and collaboration between sub-contractors, consultants, and delivery teams.
- Schedule and lead coordination meetings to address issues, updates, and progress within the BIM model.
- Facilitate training sessions and provide technical support to team members using project’s BIM systems.
Data Management and Documentation
- Organise and manage model data.
- Manage the development, models, users and roles of the project’s digital twin.
- Assess new BIM technologies and practices, recommending updates to workflows and software if beneficial to project goals.
- Troubleshoot software issues that may arise, ensuring that workflows remain uninterrupted.
Technical skills and Competencies
- Ability to communicate in English and report clearly at all levels.
- Understanding and working use of BS 1192:2007.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 – Building Information Modelling (BIM).
- Knowledge of parametrical BIM objects configuration in Open Buildings or/and Revit.
- Knowledge of BIM and CAD Standards and software’s.
- Familiarity with 4D planning software for construction sequencing and simulation.
- Knowledge of Bentley iTwin.
- Understanding of construction processes and principles.
- Knowledge of reality data.
- Knowledge of ProjectWise application and/or configuration.
- Capable of providing training to others.
- Champion of CAD standards in crafting BIM models, drawings and asset data.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Well-developed IT skill including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
- Experience in 3D modelling and 2D drawing production.
- Experience in ProjectWise.
- Relevant experience in a similar role.
