The job will involve working in a busy inner city training practice. The candidate will be working in a busy, supportive and progressive GP practice. The practice is very keen on training and educating new applicants to reach a high standard of knowledge.

Main duties of the job:

  • Receiving patients and helping them where possible
  • Booking appointments on computers
  • Using the telephone, answering routine inquiries and transferring them to other departments
  • Taking and giving messages to patients, doctors/nurses, hospitals and other agencies
  • Administrative/Clerical duties
  • Knowledge of and working to the Receptionists protocol
  • Use of computers for repeat prescriptions, appointments etc
  • Full participation with colleagues in team activities as laid down in receptionists protocol (e.g. Team Meetings, Away Day etc)
  • Preparing repeat prescriptions for doctors' signatures
  • Handling general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow up appointments
  • Filing incoming mail
  • Putting new patient records in order
  • Dealing appropriately with various forms
  • Downloading hospital correspondence
  • Scanning
  • Recording requests for home visits and messages
  • Extraction of records as required and filing them
  • Postal duties
  • Taking & typing minutes of meetings
  • Registration of New Patients
  • Any other duties, which may be required and agreed with the Practice

The team consists of 4 GP partners plus trainee registrars, an advanced nurse practitioner, practice nurse, a Health Care Worker along with a Care Navigator & GP Assistant, and admin & managerial staff. It is a very friendly forward-thinking practice with great emphasis on training and education.
