We have an opportunity for a medical receptionist to join our friendly team at Hindley Health Centre. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in a similar role. Excellent organisational skills, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team. Good IT skills and experience of EMIS WEB and Ask My GP systems are desired, but not essential as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job include:
- Patient Contact and Communication.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and online requests.
- Direct patients to the most appropriate service or clinician.
- Provide information to patients on services and appointments.
- Process registrations and deductions.
- Handle document workflow, coding and filing.
- Support chronic disease invitations.
- Assist with repeat prescribing processes.
- Greet and check in patients, manage appointment bookings.
- Support the smooth running of daily clinics.
- Maintain confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
- Work flexibly to support other areas of the practice.
- Provide cover for colleagues' annual leave/sickness.
About us: Dr Tun & Partners has 4 GP partners, 1 ANP, 4 Practice Nurses and serves 7500 patients. We are part of Hindley PCN and have a number of additional roles working within the practice including a GPA who works closely with and is supported by the administrative/reception staff. As a forward-thinking practice, we require a similarly motivated and enthusiastic receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team.
Job responsibilities may include:
- Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system.
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail.
- Taking messages and passing on information.
- Filing and retrieving paperwork.
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
- Clearing and re-stocking of consulting rooms as required.
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning.
- Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies.
- Dealing with clinical waste.
- Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy.
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
Person Specification:
