We are excited to be able to offer a salaried GP vacancy to join our team under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). This is a great opportunity for a GP who is newly qualified. The post-holder must be within 2 years of completing their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). We can offer 5 sessions per week and it is initially a fixed-term contract for one year with potential for extension and a possibility of a permanent post thereafter. We are offering £10,500 per session and will enrol you in the NHS Pension scheme and pay for your MDDUS defence fees. To be eligible you must be a newly qualified GP and have qualified within the last 2 years.

Main duties of the job

  • Core responsibilities of the Salaried GP include:
  • In accordance with the practice rota, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries.
  • Carrying out home visits for our housebound patients, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries.
  • On-call sessions as the duty doctor on the day in our triage hub.
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
  • Effective management of long-term conditions.
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.

About us

We have two surgery sites, one in Leeds 9 and one in Leeds 15, and have a mixed patient demographic which gives variety. We are in two purpose-built modern medical centres. Our current list size is around 18,300. We are a training practice with a supportive, enthusiastic team in a relaxed and encouraging working environment. Currently, we have eight partners and four salaried GPs, an excellent nursing team and admin support. Our clinical platform is SystmOne.

Job responsibilities

  • Assess and examine patients with a variety of health concerns.
  • Take detailed patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests when required.
  • Provide consultations for a range of conditions, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and preventive health issues.
  • Make accurate diagnoses and develop treatment plans, including prescribing medications and offering lifestyle advice.
  • Ensure follow-up care for ongoing medical conditions and post-treatment monitoring.
  • Create and maintain personalised care plans for patients with chronic conditions or long-term illnesses.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the patient receives comprehensive care.
  • Educate patients on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and the management of medical conditions.
  • Promote immunisations, screenings, and other preventive services in line with public health initiatives.
  • Accurately document patient consultations, treatments, and outcomes in electronic health records.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Work alongside other healthcare professionals (nurses, physiotherapists, specialists, etc.) in delivering patient care.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient progress and care strategies.
  • Stay informed of current medical best practices and guidelines.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including continued medical education (CME) and training.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including referral letters and reports.
  • Attend and contribute to practice meetings, patient reviews, and audits as required.

Person Specification

  • Qualified GP (to be eligible for this position you must be a newly qualified GP and have qualified within the last 2 years).
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
  • Full GMC registration.
  • National Performers List registration England.
  • Evidence of current validation.
  • Evidence of last appraisal.
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
