Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 65 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career.

We’ve launched our first-ever Dr. Martens Flagship Beacon Store in Soho - a bold new concept where craft, creativity, and culture collide. As Deputy Store Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. Working alongside the Store Manager, you’ll help shape a space that’s immersive, elevated, and community-driven - where bouncing ideas turn into bouncing soles. This is not a traditional retail role. It’s for someone who thrives in experiential, concept-led environments, and knows how to lead with both creativity and commercial focus.

At Dr. Martens, we live and breathe our 3 core values — they’re at the heart of who we are. They never stand alone but work together as a balancing act of rights and responsibilities to support how we work together at DMs: BE YOURSELF. ACT COURAGEOUSLY. SHOW YOU CARE.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing the store's cultural vision to life on the ground - leading with presence, passion, and purpose to ensure every interaction reflects the spirit of the space.
  • Translating creative strategy into daily rhythm - turning big ideas into seamless execution through clear planning, team alignment, and hands-on leadership.
  • Supporting the operational delivery of in-store activations - ensuring the team, space, and product are always ready to host moments that connect with community and culture.
  • Being the stitching that binds the store's creative vision to its daily execution - ensuring consistency, flow, and attention to detail across every touchpoint.
  • Mentoring and elevating the team’s creative confidence - helping individuals grow not just in skill, but in voice, ownership, and cultural contribution.
  • Holding the space in the Store Manager’s absence - maintaining momentum, energy, and integrity across every touchpoint of the store experience.

Your technical capability will go hand in hand with our DM Way success factors:

  • Develop: create an environment that empowers and nurtures future talent by delegating, understanding next generation needs, and ensuring long-term team growth.
  • Lead: set a clear vision with plans and goals, cultivating a high-performance culture that drives positive change and inspires enthusiasm for DM’s future.
  • Explore: place the consumer at the heart of strategy, decisions, and communications while analysing market trends and competition relevant to your role.
  • Invent: champion progress, innovation, and change, driving collaboration across teams to enhance effectiveness and implement new ideas.
  • Connect: promote inclusivity and collaboration, build strong internal and external networks, and streamline processes to align cross-functional efforts and drive growth.
  • Influence: communicate difficult messages clearly and assertively, balancing data and emotion to influence, and build a collective movement toward common goals by selling a compelling vision.
  • Drive: cultivate a culture of entrepreneurial spirit and high performance, inspiring teams to overcome obstacles, embrace challenges, and continuously improve while delivering results.
  • Organise: balance long-term strategic change with short-term business needs by setting clear roles, expectations, and measures for the team.

What’s in it for you?

  • 50% off all accessories
  • 2 paid volunteer days per year
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Matched pension contributions

We should have examples on hand of how we've handled difficult situations or gone above and beyond to meet a customer's needs. These anecdotes will bring your application to life!

Familiarity with Point of Sale Systems

Many retail roles require us to work with Point of Sale (POS) systems, so it's a good idea to brush up on any relevant software you’ve used before.
