Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 60 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career. We are guided by three core values that are at the heart of everything we do: be yourself, act courageously, and show you care. They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what’s right.

As our Director of Financial Control & Reporting, you will be responsible for leading the Group’s financial accounting, external reporting, and financial control environment, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. This role provides critical financial insights to the CFO and Board, enabling strategic decision‑making and safeguarding the integrity of financial information.

This role contributes to the company’s strategic priorities by:

  • Driving operational efficiency
  • Embedding best‑in‑class financial control processes to support operating leverage and cost discipline.
  • Enabling governance and transparency
  • Delivering accurate, timely reporting and compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards.
  • Supporting profitable growth
  • Providing financial clarity and risk management to underpin strategic initiatives and expansion.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading all Group financial control activities, including global accounting operations, group transactional finance, and maintenance of the Group chart of accounts.
  • Owning delivery of accurate, timely external reporting — including IFRS‑compliant Group financial statements, monthly consolidation, variance analysis, and Audit Committee/Board inputs.
  • Driving a strong governance and control environment by defining and implementing Group‑wide accounting policies, risk controls, and compliance processes across all jurisdictions.
  • Overseeing and managing efficient interim and year‑end external audits globally, ensuring effective auditor engagement and high‑quality outcomes.
  • Championing continuous improvement by identifying process and systems enhancements that strengthen controls, streamline reporting, and enable finance transformation.
  • Leading, developing, and inspiring the global Financial Control team, building capability, driving collaboration, and embedding leadership behaviours aligned to the DM Way.

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • ACA qualified finance leader with deep expertise in financial control, IFRS reporting, and technical accounting.
  • Proven track record operating at senior level within complex, global, and fast‑paced environments.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to balance compliance, commerciality, and operational needs.
  • Exceptional communicator with confidence influencing senior stakeholders, including Board level.
  • Experienced change leader with a background in transforming finance processes, systems, and controls.
  • Collaborative, resilient people leader who builds capability, drives engagement, and role‑models the DM Way.

Because we believe everyone should feel supported and included whatever their role in the Dr. Martens community.

Application closing date - Friday the 20th of February 2026.
