We are looking to recruit two new receptionists to join our well established team. Please note from 1.4.26 the hourly rate will increase to £12.78.
Receptionist 1: 18.5 hrs a week Monday 0800-1700 Tuesday 1230-1800
Receptionist 2: 18.5 hrs a week Thursday 0900-1800 Friday 0845-1300

The role of GP receptionist is responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to:
- Greeting and directing patients
- Effective use of the appointment system
- Booking appointments
- Care navigating patients to other services
- Processing of information and assisting patients as required
To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Main duties of the job:
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments using Ask My GP (online consultation) and EMISweb (clinical system)
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- SNOMED code data on EMIS Web
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
- Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
About us: Dr M K Patel and Partners is a busy GP Surgery in the centre of Wigan with a patient list size of approximately 7,500 patients. We provide patients with high quality personal health care whilst listening to their views and needs within an open, caring and respectable environment. We aim to achieve this by ensuring that all staff employed by the practice are trained and competent to assist in the smooth and safe running of the practice. Dr M K Patel & Partners have been rated by CQC as good and we are a friendly team that aims to give the best service possible within General Practice at all times.
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the receptionist may be requested to:
- Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota when required
