As a proud part of UAB Medicine UAB Callahan Eye is committed to delivering innovation at every level of eye care and critical research that will keep all of us seeing clearly into the future.Job Summary:As a crucial member of UAB Callahan Eye the nursing Unit and the Emergency Department nurses play a pivotal role in patient care. They report directly to the Manager of Patient Care Advocacy. Duties & Responsibilities:Responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care for Emergency Department and Nursing Unit patients all under our policies. Actively participates in teams that enhance outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.Previous Emergency Department experience and knowledge of clinical ophthalmology and terminology is desirableQualifications:Must have a current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Two years of nursing experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.Previous Emergency Department experience and clinical ophthalmology and terminology knowledge are desirable.Licenses/CertificationCertified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
