JOB DETAILS JOB BAND: DCONTRACT TYPE: 12 month FTCDEPARTMENT: BBC Studios Comedy ProductionsLOCATION: Pacific Quay GlasgowPROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 50000 - 60000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. We make and distribute the worlds most sought-after TV audio and digital content.Our ambition is to be the home of the most powerful entertaining and inspiring stories for people all around the world.PURPOSE OF THE ROLE BBC Studios is the home of British comedy and responsible for many of the greatest comedies of all time.Working with our team in Glasgow this role combines development and production providing an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to flex their comedy chops on shows like Mrs Browns Boys and Two Doors Down as well as helping to build and maintain the comedy slate in Scotland.WHY JOIN THE TEAM BBC Studios Comedy has produced and delivered content for the biggest global platforms including the multi award-winning epic Good Omens for Amazon our much loved comedy-drama Trying for Apple and Netflix sketch special A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou.In Scotland you will be working alongside the Exec in charge of BBC returning series Mammoth Mrs Browns Boys and Two Doors Down.In addition to honing your producing and development skills this role will give you exposure to stakeholders across BBC Studios and the wider market. You will have the opportunity to establish yourself as a successful comedy producer working across prime-time successful shows and prove your creative and commercial acumen through the growth of a regional team and slate.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT Producer across productions; working closely with HODs and key talent including writers and cast to ensure content is produced and delivered on time and budget and to a high standard Generate and develop ideas to build and maintain the comedy slate. Identify new and existing writing talent lead and contribute to ideas generation create compelling tender documents and pitches and build and foster relationships with potential clients Promote and embrace an inclusive culture; ensuring our teams and content reflect the breadth and diversity of our audiences Lead motivate and support teams; deputising for the Executive Producer as required Ensure compliance with BBC Editorial Legal and Health & Safety guidelines and liaise with Rights teams to adhere to copyright and contract regulations Stay up to date with new and emerging comedy talent content and industry trendsYOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Significant experience of producing or directing broadcast scripted comedy television Knowledge passion and enthusiasm for comedy especially the witty character-driven humour of television productions made in Scotland Expert knowledge of the television market and production processes as well as contacts across the comedy industry Strong writing and script editing skills and a track record for generating and developing comedy ideas for television Experience of leading teams and creating a positive environment where peoples well-being and safety are prioritised alongside a commitment to high performance and delivering quality contentIf you can bring some of these skills and experience along with transferable strengths wed love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
