This is a hands-on technical role where your scientific expertise will help ensure the accuracy and reliability of life-saving equipment used by Fire Services nationwide.About the RoleAs a Technical Support Technician youll work closely with the Laboratory Manager to carry out essential calibrations regulatory tasks and scientific support. From maintaining complex detection instruments to assisting in fire investigations your work will directly contribute to operational readiness and safety.Key Responsibilities Calibrate and maintain equipment including gas monitors dosimeters radiation meters multimeters and volt-sticks Conduct breathing air quality analysis in compressed air cylinders Perform calibrations both in-lab and at remote locations for operational efficiency Maintain accurate records and produce standard calibration reports Manage departmental databases and contribute to KPI and scientific reporting Support ignition and combustibility testing Assist with fire and accident investigation sample management Decontaminate operational equipment used in fire service incidents Carry out COSHH assessments and maintain chemical inventories Provide general clerical and QA system support Undertake other related tasks as requiredWhat Were Looking ForWere seeking a motivated and adaptable individual with: A scientific degree in Chemistry Applied Chemistry Physics or a related field General knowledge of chemistry and chemical hazards Strong communication skills to explain scientific concepts at all levels Confidence in liaising with clients and promoting our services A full UK driving licenceWhy Bureau VeritasAt Bureau Veritas youll be part of a globally respected organisation known for its technical excellence and commitment to safety.
