Job summary

Guru Nanak and Botwell MedicalCentre are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to support our clinical team in delivering outstanding patient care. Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • UndertakeNHS Health Checks.
  • Recordclinical observations including:
  • Blood pressure
  • Height and weight
  • BMI
  • Pulse
  • Oxygen saturation
  • Temperature
  • Performvenepuncture/phlebotomy.
  • Carryout ECGs.
  • Undertakenew patient health checks.
  • Supportchronic disease monitoring clinics.
  • Assistwith smoking cessation, health promotion and lifestyle advice.
  • Undertakewound care and dressings following appropriate training and competencyassessment.
  • Conducturinalysis and specimen management.
  • Administervaccinations where trained and delegated.
  • Ensureclinical rooms are stocked, maintained and prepared.
  • Maintainaccurate patient records using the clinical system.
  • Supportinfection prevention and control procedures.
  • Participatein quality improvement and audit activities.
  • Maintainpatient confidentiality and comply with information governance requirements.

Desirable Criteria

NVQLevel 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, Healthcare Support, or equivalentexperience.

Experienceworking in a healthcare setting.

Competentin phlebotomy.

Goodcommunication and interpersonal skills.

Abilityto work effectively as part of a team.

BasicIT skills and experience using clinical systems.

Understandingpatient confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities.

Abilityto manage workload effectively and work independently.

Experience working in General Practice.

Experienceworking in General Practice.

Knowledgeof System One software

Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati or Arabic language skills

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, Healthcare Support, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in General Practice.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Competent in phlebotomy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills and experience using clinical systems.
  • Understanding patient confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and work independently.

Desirable
