An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic phlebotomist to join our busy practice based in Dartford. The post holder will be working as part of a Nursing Team, providing high quality nursing care to patients. Previous experience in working in general practice would be an advantage. The role is for 20 hours per week (7.30am - 12.30pm) on the following days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Main duties of the job:
- Providing support and undertaking agreed duties under the supervision of the Registered Nurses, with the ability to work independently.
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses.
- Administering Flu Vaccinations after Training Course attended.
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation.
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment.
- Ordering supplies.
About us:
We are a large Doctors Surgery with an estimated 16,000 patients. The phlebotomist role is very important within the practice. We have 5 registered nurses and two HCAs currently on the team and we are looking to recruit a phlebotomist part-time. Staff on the team need to be flexible as there is a wide variety of tasks. It is a very busy team and it moves very quickly so prioritising is very important. We do expect professionalism at all times. We have a great team and they will support you as will the management team.
Job responsibilities:
- Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
- Assisting the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
- Demonstrating evidence-based clinical skills.
- Demonstrating potential clinical leadership skills with junior staff.
- Able to show evidence of working within a team.
- Able to demonstrate competencies in clinical skills relevant to the post.
- Ability to prioritise, organise and work in a busy environment.
- Basic IT skills.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, pro-activity, flexibility and motivation.
- Shows initiative.
- Evidence of the required physical, mental and emotional resources to fulfil the post.
- Able to move and handle patients.
- Positive attitude to equal opportunities.
Person Specification:
- Previously worked as a phlebotomist caring for adults in an acute or community setting.
- Experience equivalent to NVQ level three in care.
- Essential English qualification at GCSE.
- Qualified in phlebotomy NVQ level 3.
