Help shape the future of industrial digitalisation. DPS Group is growing its digitalisation capability, and we are looking for a Solutions Architect who wants to play a key role in shaping what comes next. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk designing systems in isolation. This is a hands-on, customer-facing opportunity for someone who enjoys solving real problems, challenging the norm and turning ideas into practical, deliverable solutions.

You will work at the intersection of industrial automation, digital transformation, IIoT, edge technologies, cloud platforms, data, cybersecurity and connected operations. You will help our clients understand what is possible, define the right technical approach and support the delivery of solutions that create real operational value.

This role is a chance to join a growing digitalisation team within an established solutions provider. You will have the pace, flexibility and influence of a start-up environment, but with the support, reputation and client base of a wider business behind you. You will be close to the decisions, close to the technology and close to the customers.

You will not be limited to a narrow role description. You will be expected to bring ideas, challenge thinking, get involved, support others and help shape the way DPS delivers digitalisation solutions. For the right person, this is a role with real influence.

As Solutions Architect, you will work with clients, engineering teams, technology partners and internal stakeholders to design and support digitalisation solutions across industrial and process environments. You will help translate customer challenges into clear technical solutions. You will design architectures, support project delivery, contribute to commissioning and lifecycle support, and help ensure solutions are secure, scalable and practical.

Your work may include:

  • Designing IIoT, edge, cloud, data and integration architectures.
  • Working directly with customers to understand requirements and shape solutions.
  • Supporting workshops, demonstrations and technical discussions.
  • Integrating technologies such as PLCs, gateways, industrial networks, cloud platforms, analytics tools and edge devices.
  • Ensuring solutions are aligned with cybersecurity principles and good architectural practice.
  • Supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Reviewing emerging technologies and identifying where they could add value.
  • Helping develop reusable standards, templates and approaches for future projects.
  • Working across teams to make sure solutions are not just technically strong, but deliverable and valuable.

We are looking for someone with energy, commitment and ideas. You will be naturally curious and driven. You will enjoy solving complex problems, learning new technologies and finding better ways to do things. You will be confident enough to challenge the norm, but practical enough to turn ideas into action.

You will set high standards for yourself and expect the same from those around you. You will be a leader by nature, whether that means guiding a technical discussion, supporting a colleague, influencing a customer or taking ownership when something needs to be done. This role will suit someone who understands what it means to work for a solutions provider. You will be comfortable balancing customer needs, technical ambition, delivery reality and commercial value.

You will also need to be flexible. We are building a growing capability, so you will sometimes need to turn your hand to whatever is required. That might mean shaping strategy one day, supporting a client workshop the next, and helping resolve a delivery challenge after that.

You may already be working in solutions architecture, or you may be in a role that naturally transitions into this space. What matters most is your ability to understand technical problems, engage confidently with customers, think across systems, connect ideas and help turn requirements into practical solutions.

This role could suit someone from backgrounds such as automation, control systems, systems integration, digitalisation, IIoT, OT/IT integration, technical project engineering, commissioning, field engineering, application engineering, technical consultancy, pre-sales or solution engineering.

If you have the technical grounding, curiosity, customer confidence and drive to grow into a broader architecture role, we would be interested in speaking with you.

We are not expecting one person to be an expert in everything. We are interested in people who bring strong foundations, relevant experience and the appetite to keep learning. Experience in some of the following areas would be valuable:

  • Industrial digitalisation, IIoT or connected operations.
  • Automation, control systems, PLCs, HMIs or SCADA.
  • Edge computing and industrial networking.
  • Cloud platforms, particularly Azure IoT or similar.
  • Data integration, dashboards, analytics or reporting.
  • Industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, PROFINET or Ethernet/IP.
  • Siemens technologies such as Industrial Edge, Insights Hub or TIA Portal.
  • Node-RED, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, JSON, SQL or time-series databases.
  • Cybersecurity principles, ideally including IEC 62443.
  • OT/IT integration and multi-vendor industrial environments.

Certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Siemens Industrial Edge or ISA/IEC 62443 would be beneficial, but they are not the only measure of success. We are equally interested in mindset, practical experience, leadership potential and the ability to deliver.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK. Travel will be part of the role. You will spend time with clients and will also be expected to attend DPS Group locations regularly, including our main DPS offices in Glenrothes and Monmouth. Building relationships across the business is important, and we want this person to be visible, connected and part of the wider team.

You will be joining a business that is serious about innovation, technology and long-term customer partnerships. You will have the opportunity to help shape a growing digitalisation capability, influence technical direction and work on solutions that make a real difference for customers. You will be trusted to bring ideas, challenge thinking and take ownership. You will work with people who care about quality, safety, delivery and doing the right thing for clients. This is a role for someone who wants to build, lead and make an impact.
