An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic and growing building services consultancy in central Birmingham. This is a senior-level position offering genuine involvement in technically varied and high-profile projects across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of building services installations across a variety of project types and sectors
- Produce detailed design drawings using Revit (BIM)
- Carry out lighting design using DIALux and/or Relux
- Perform electrical system calculations using Amtech and Excel
- Prepare specifications, design reports, and technical submissions
- Manage projects through RIBA stages, coordinating with clients, architects, and contractors
- Attend design team and client meetings; provide technical advice and design leadership
- Mentor junior engineers and support their development
- Ensure designs comply with current UK Building Regulations, BS 7671, and relevant CIBSE guidance
- Contribute to sustainable, energy-efficient design solutions

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' UK-based building services electrical design experience
- Strong electrical design background (LV systems, lighting, power, fire alarms, containment)
- Proficient in DIALux and/or Relux for lighting design
- Experienced with Amtech for electrical calculations
- Competent in Revit and confident using Excel for engineering calculations
- Solid understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS 7671, and CIBSE guidance
- Experience across multiple building sectors
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (IET / CIBSE) desirable
