An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and highly regarded building services consultancy. This is a senior-level position offering genuine involvement in technically varied and high-profile projects across a diverse range of sectors, with a clear pathway for progression within a collaborative and ambitious team.
You will be responsible for leading the mechanical design of building services schemes from feasibility and concept through to detailed design, specification, and construction support – covering RIBA Stages 1 through to 6. The role demands both technical depth and client-facing confidence, and sits within a consultancy that prides itself on long-standing client relationships, innovative design, and a commitment to net-zero and sustainability outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the mechanical design of building services installations across a variety of project types and sectors
- Produce detailed design drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit (BIM)
- Undertake dynamic thermal modelling and energy analysis using IES, HAP, and TAF
- Prepare specifications, design reports, and technical submissions
- Manage projects through RIBA Stages 1–6, coordinating with clients, architects, structural engineers, and contractors
- Attend design team and client meetings; provide technical advice and design leadership
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development
- Contribute to business development activity and fee proposals
- Ensure designs comply with current UK Building Regulations and relevant CIBSE guidance
- Contribute to sustainable, low-carbon, and energy-efficient design solutions
