Overview
To drive the quality of DPDs driver workforce through the provision of excellent quality practical and theoretical driver training.
Maintain RTITB qualification status and provide vocational licence acquisition training, periodic training for existing drivers, and support the Driver Training department and wider business through knowledge and industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain RTITB Instructor status and quality.
- Conduct LGV C1, C, and CE Vocational Licence Acquisition Training to DVSA standard, preparing candidates for all test elements and maintaining expected quality.
- Ensure all training records, daily activity reports and compliance checks are completed to the requisite standard.
- Attend DVSA tests with candidates.
- Deliver Inexperienced Driver Training on induction for all inexperienced LGV CE new starters, ensuring on‑road activity sign‑off with evidence of competency criteria.
- Deliver Experienced Driver Inductions for all experienced LGV CE new starters, ensuring on‑road activity sign‑off with evidence of competency criteria.
- Maintain and ensure fleet is compliant to flagship standards at all times.
- Complete LGV C1, C and CE assessments as required and communicate results to relevant departments.
- Complete LGV CE agency inductions to DPD standard, including vehicle familiarisation and best driver practices where required.
- Complete all induction checks and document communication to relevant departments.
- Carry out inexperienced driver buddy duties for both Transport and Network where required.
- Communicate issues in a timely manner for action by relevant departments.
- Conduct Periodic CPC Training and maintain JAUPT registration.
- Conduct delegated authority assessor training throughout the Network and assessments for 7.5t and 18t assessors.
- Assist with development and training of LGV Trainee Instructors and LGV Assessors where appropriate.
- Conduct vehicle reviews for Fleet where requested and assist with content creation for the driver handbook and training materials.
- Assist with compliance training for drivers and management where requested.
- Complete all administrative tasks required through the course of employment to an exemplary level.
- Financial
- Ensure compliance with all Finance procedures including Expenses Policy.
- Remain flexible to travel to reduce operational costs of Transport and the wider Network.
- Provide timely and accurate training to drive service support for Driver Training, Transport and Network departments.
- Assist to maintain departmental pass rate at annual agreed percentage.
- Health, Safety & Security
- Remain compliant with Health, Safety & Security processes of sites and customers (where applicable).
- Communicate relevant Health, Safety & Security information to drivers during assessment, induction and training.
- Communicate relevant Health, Safety & Security information to customers and their employees during site visits and kit training.
- Human Resources
- Communicate all relevant company information during assessment, induction and training.
- Key Measures of Performance
- Maintain pass rate over minimum 60% (subject to change based on DVSA published pass rates).
- Successful completion and recording/reporting of all training tasks allocated.
- Monthly Reviews within Training Rotation, Bi-Annual reviews at end of each 6 month Training Rotation, Annual Driving Assessment, Annual Instructor Assessment.
- Year-round monitoring through Risk Score and available telematics.
- Periodic CPC Training and Periodic Instructor Training.
- Training when required due to changes in relevant legislation or company changes.
- All other company training as prescribed.
