DPD UK has a turnover of nearly £2 billion and aims to be the most sustainable delivery company in the UK. We also aim to deliver the best service, use the best technology, and recruit and retain the best people in the industry. DPD is a Valuable 500 company and a Disability Confident Employer.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly motivated HGV Technician to join our thriving business as a Yard Technician. Within this role, you will be responsible for repairs and inspections to our HGV vehicles and trailers on our yard. This role, based in our brand new Superhub in Hinckley, offers the successful candidate a chance to be part of the UK's leading parcel delivery business. You will report directly to the Workshop Manager and be a key member of the team.
Working in a time-critical distribution environment, your key accountabilities will include:
- Carrying out smaller repairs to DPD's fleet of Mercedes Benz tractor and trailer units.
- Mechanical and Electrical repairs on vehicles.
As the successful candidate, you will have experience working within a similar Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant role, or have knowledge of yellow goods repairs. Ideally, you will be Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or be a time-served technician. You will have knowledge of working on Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo, and Renault vehicles. You must demonstrate the core values of DPD's DNA - Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Hard Work, and Accountability. It would be advantageous if you were IRTECH licence qualified; however, this is not essential as we can provide further accreditation for this.
You will have a comprehensive induction to DPD and the Workshop where we explain all working practices. Your induction will also include attendance at our Corporate Induction. An LGV Class 1 Driving Licence is desirable for this role but not essential.
Your package will include a competitive salary, and you will also be entitled to a competitive bonus scheme. Additionally, you have access to some other fantastic optional benefits such as Cycle2Work Scheme, Dining Cards, Holiday trading, and discounts and savings on thousands of retailers.
DPD is passionate about creating an environment that is open, ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible. There is a culture of recognition and reward within DPD, including long-service awards, a special recognition programme for those individuals that go above and beyond, and the DPD Personality of the Year award. If successful, you can look forward to the exciting prospect of joining an increasingly successful and expanding business that, through its constant innovation, has revolutionised the express parcel industry and continues to define its outlook for the future.
