Job Title: Shift Manager

Location: DPD Dagenham, Unit 2, Orion Park, Messina Way, Dagenham, RM9 6FF

Contract: Permanent, 40 hours per week

Salary: circa £40,400 per annum plus bonus

Working hours: 10am start, Tuesday to Saturday

About the role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to help strengthen our depot operations team. You will be responsible for achieving depot objectives in terms of operational, compliance, financial, customer service and HR tasks through effective management of employees, maintenance of company operating standards and ISO procedures relevant to your area of accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accurate processing of collections and returns to the depot.
  • Deal with inbound customer service queries, ensuring appropriate action is taken and queries are resolved effectively.
  • Ensure trailer departures from depot and customer sites leave at the designated times.
  • Ensure all parcels are collected and scanned.
  • Achieve depot target for PPMHR (parts per million hours reported).
  • Achieve company target for security searches.
  • Analyse and update all relevant systems and reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a fast‑paced operation with proven, demonstrable people‑management experience, ideally within a transport setting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and manage a team.
  • Decisive, effective decision‑making, problem‑resolution and time‑management skills.
  • High levels of resilience, self‑motivation and flexibility.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly proficiency with Google Chrome applications.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive reporting and data analysis.
  • Vigilant against unscrupulous activity, with the capacity to act swiftly and appropriately when required.
