To sit within the Strategy and Transformation function and be responsible for designing, defining, and governing the Target Operating Model (TOM) specifically for key strategic programmes and projects. This role translates strategic programme objectives into a coherent, measurable, and scalable operational framework—covering processes, technology, governance, and structural pillars that ensure project delivery drives measurable efficiency, is aligned with the overall organisational strategy, and is rooted in an understanding of customer needs to ultimately deliver exceptional, customer‑centric experiences.
Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility
- Transformation-Driven TOM Development: Lead the design of Target Operating Models (TOMs) for assigned strategic programmes and projects, defining the required operational architecture, key capabilities, and integration points necessary to deliver project outcomes and drive sustainable organisational transformation.
- Customer-Centric Design Integration: Embed principles of great customer design—such as ease of navigation, clarity, and mobile responsiveness—into the Target Operating Model's process and technology pillars, ensuring all operational frameworks result in positive and effective customer experiences.
- Process and Value Stream Mapping: Analyse current processes and value chains within the scope of the programme/project to identify inefficiencies. Design future-state business processes, standards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to align with programme objectives.
- Technology and Data Alignment: Partner with technology teams to define the required technical landscape, application architecture, and data governance needed to support the TOM within the scope of the programme/project.
- Governance and Transformation Oversight: Define and establish the necessary governance framework, roles, and clear decision‑making rights required for the successful operation of the programme's new model and its transition into the business, ensuring effective control over the transformation roadmap.
- Cross-Functional Blueprint: Create the programme-level operational blueprint and strategic blueprints that clearly outline the future structure of work, providing the necessary input for the Organisational Design function to define detailed people structures and roles.
- Stakeholder Management: Secure project and programme stakeholder buy‑in and maintain alignment across delivery workstreams by presenting model diagnostics, design options, and implementation readiness plans.
- Industry Acumen: Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, best practices, and emerging organisational models (e.g., agile, matrix structures).
- Relationship Management: Foster strong working relationships with all levels of management, acting as a trusted advisor on operational effectiveness for strategic programmes.
- Compliance and Policy Adherence: Ensure all model recommendations comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
- Leadership Communication: Prepare and present formal recommendations, impact assessments, and reports on programme and project operating model designs to the Strategy and Transformation leadership.
