Job Description
Our General Manager Security is looking to recruit reliable and dedicated Gatehouse Operative. Effective Gatehouse operations play a vital role within the UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Key Duties and Accountabilities will include:
- Ensuring that only authorised vehicles (DPD, Subcontractors and delivery vehicles) are given access and egress to the site
- Communicating to other departments within the business with reference to vehicle movements
- Physical checks of vehicle details and seals
- Ensuring that all reported empty trailers arriving & departing are physically checked.
- Ensuring that trailer locking systems are working effectively
- Working as part of a team to deliver excellent gatehouse security and customer service.
- Coordinating activities between contractors, employees and visitors.
- Liaising with emergency services and other third-party organisations.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in a similar position would be advantageous but full training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical to succeed in this role as are excellent interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with staff, international drivers and visitors on a daily basis.
- You will be someone with a responsible and trustworthy attitude who takes pride in your day to day work.
- We will also expect you to have:
- The ability to use initiative and follow procedures and guidelines
- A professional appearance and attitude at times
- Flexibility towards working hours as working hours are varied to fit in with the current shift roster
- Proactive and supportive team player.

- Have excellent computer skills
- Ability to work between two hub locations at short notice is required
