Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility
- Geographical area of responsibility
- Responsibility for all security related matters within Northern DPD UK depots, unless otherwise directed by the Head of Security. This includes individual responsibility of depots where and when required.
- In liaison with the Head of Security you are to devise company security policy and implement it through the creation of workable strategies which will ensure the company objectives are achieved.
- Through the effective management of the Security Department you are to ensure that appropriate advice and support is given to the business units on all security matters including:
- Physical Security
- Operational security
- Administrative Security
- Responsible for regularly assessing and identifying security risks within the business units and developing workable solutions, which will minimise these and ensure the company maintains a secure operation.
- Ensuring that the Security Department operates in a manner which adds value to the company and which can be displayed as a ‘bottom line’ saving to the business.
- Ensure the RSM’s (Regional Security Managers) have conducted reviews at their Depots for the maintenance and improvement of security on their sites to fulfil the company’s main security objectives.
- As part of the strategy to maintain minimal risk within the business units you are to ensure that the RSM’s maintain and provide a programme of formal Security risk assessments in line with TAPA and ISO regulations.
- In conjunction with the RSM’s and LPO’s (Loss Prevention Officers) to improve the claims performance of the business units and ensure customers’ interests remain a high priority, you must organize, monitor, and evaluate investigations into the loss of customers’ goods to prevent any recurrence and improve security.
- To manage critical incidents within the security department and provide detailed evidential reports to local police forces utilising golden hour principles.
- Responsible for formal reports on security to the appropriate business units on a monthly basis or as required which will give current loss levels, raise security issues and develop initiative to improve claim/loss performance.
- Where required liaise with and visit external customers on security related issues when necessary to task the RSM’s to ensure this is achieved, working closely with them (particularly major accounts) in a proactive manner to ensure effective security is maintained.
- Organise with the relevant RSM’s for external advice to be given to our external customers if invited to do so on their own security measures to improve the standard of security and the safety of their goods whilst in transit.
- Liaise with the security partnership manager, to support contact with all external agencies, Police, HM Customs and other law enforcement agencies when required to assist the overall security and investigations.
- Carry out any reasonable management or company instruction when advised to do so by the Head of Security.
