Job Title
HGV Breakdown and Service Advisor
Responsibilities
- Ensure the roadworthiness and effective maintenance of all company operated HGVs that are maintained externally.
- Confirm externally maintained vehicles and trailers comply with legislation, operator licensing, facility standards, staff competence and regular compliance audits.
- Adhere to Service Level Agreement (SLA) KPIs and manage external repairers to keep VOR levels within agreed parameters.
- Support the National HGV Maintenance Manager on aspects of the HGV External R&M P&L.
- Manage maintenance schedules and bookings for all externally maintained HGVs, ensuring planned maintenance occurs within legal limits.
- Coordinate with maintenance contractors, manufacturers, hire companies and dealers for safety inspections and servicing, and maintain contractual SLAs.
- Notify relevant Operators (Transport Department or Depot) upon booking confirmation.
- Review maintenance documents, complete them to standard and support a ‘Driver Reportable Defect’ process.
- Escalate overdue planned maintenance and any roadworthy/VOR defects.
- Provide administrative support: ordering fuel, transferring vehicles, processing supplier invoices, issuing POs, chasing workshops, quality checking paperwork, uploading scheduled work documents, inputting mileage readings.
- Handle inbound/outbound calls from depots, drivers and customers to report faults, place jobs with external repairers and liaise for repair status updates.
Qualifications
- Excellent administration skills, with strong computer literacy (Google Suite, Microsoft Office).
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- High attention to detail producing accurate, quality work.
- Proactive, supportive team player.
