As a Class 2 / 18 Tonne Collection and Delivery Driver with DPD, you will be the "face of our company", tasked with delivering exceptional service to our customers. This role demands a high level of professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
Responsibilities- Executing multi‑drop collections and deliveries within the designated local area with precision and efficiency
- Adhering strictly to time‑critical deadlines and predetermined collection schedules
- Maintaining accurate records of all journeys and deliveries
- Representing DPD with the utmost professionalism and integrity at all times
- Conducting thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety
- Promptly reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel
- Safely loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper securing of goods during transit
- Adhering to all relevant road traffic laws and company policies, including working time directives and tachograph regulations
- Maintaining a clean and organised vehicle interior and exterior
- Participating in regular safety briefings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and regulations
- Collaborating effectively with warehouse staff, dispatchers and other drivers to ensure smooth operations
- Providing constructive feedback to improve delivery processes and customer experience
- Demonstrate the core DPD DNA values of Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Caring and Accountability
- A valid 18 Tonne (Category C) licence, DQC (Driver Qualification Card) CPC accreditation and a valid UK Digital Tachograph Card
- Good communication skills, a can‑do attitude and customer‑focused approach
- The ability to prioritise and work on your own initiative when under pressure
- Prior multi‑drop driving experience would be beneficial, but full training is available
- A clean driving licence and some basic administration skills would be preferred
- Excellent time‑management skills and punctuality
- Strong geographical knowledge of the local delivery area
- Physical fitness to handle heavy loads and perform repetitive lifting tasks
- Basic mechanical knowledge to perform vehicle checks and identify potential issues
- Proficiency in using handheld devices and route planning software
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet business needs when required
