Collection and Delivery Driver – 3.5 Tonne

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 10:00–18:30

Job Description

As a Collection and Delivery Driver for DPD, you will be the face of our company and play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service when collecting or delivering parcels.
  • Starting your shift at the depot, where you\'ll be responsible for efficiently loading parcels onto your 3.5 tonne van.
  • Following a daily delivery schedule and managing your route effectively to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
  • Safely operating and maintaining the 3.5 tonne van, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Accurately scanning and recording parcel information using handheld devices.
  • Collecting signatures and other necessary proof of delivery from customers.
  • Promptly reporting any delivery issues, vehicle problems or customer concerns to your supervisor.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised van, conducting daily vehicle checks, and reporting any maintenance needs.
  • Adapting to changing weather conditions and adjusting your delivery approach accordingly.
  • Collaborating with depot staff and other drivers to ensure smooth operations and efficient parcel sorting.
  • Wearing the provided uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on duty.
  • Demonstrating DPD’s core values: honesty, respect, passion, flexibility, caring and accountability.

Qualifications

To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Held a full UK driving licence with at least 12 months regular driving experience.
  • Recognise the value of providing great customer service.
  • Can work to deadlines, are flexible and always go above and beyond.
  • Friendly, approachable, positive, resourceful and professional.
  • Able to multi‑task and problem‑solve.
  • Capacity to lift, load and carry parcels weighing up to 25 kg / 30 kg.
  • Excellent time‑management and organisational skills.
  • Good level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use handheld devices.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Good knowledge of local roads and geography.
