Overview

Collection and Delivery Driver – 3.5 Tonne at DPD Dundee. Permanent full-time role. Shift pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:15. Salary: £13.00 per hour with overtime paid at an enhanced rate. Location: DPD Dundee.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service when collecting or delivering parcels.
  • Starting the shift at the depot and loading parcels onto a 3.5 tonne van.
  • Following a daily delivery schedule and managing the route to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
  • Safely operating and maintaining the 3.5 tonne van, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Accurately scanning and recording parcel information using handheld devices.
  • Collecting signatures and other necessary proof of delivery from customers.
  • Reporting any delivery issues, vehicle problems, or customer concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised van, conducting daily vehicle checks, and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Adapting to changing weather conditions and adjusting the delivery approach accordingly.
  • Collaborating with depot staff and other drivers to ensure smooth operations and efficient parcel sorting.
  • Wearing the provided uniform and PPE at all times while on duty.

Qualifications

  • Held a full UK driving licence and had regular driving experience for 12 months or more.
  • Recognise the value of providing great customer service.
  • Can work to deadlines, are flexible and always go above and beyond.
  • Are friendly, approachable, positive, resourceful and professional.
  • Are able to multi-task and problem solve.
  • Have the ability to lift, load and carry parcels weighing up to 25 kg / 30 kg.
  • Possess excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Have a good level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have basic computer skills and the ability to use handheld devices.
  • Are comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Have a good knowledge of local roads and geography.
