Collection and Delivery Driver – 3.5 Tonne at DPD UK, Sheffield, England, United Kingdom
Position details are based at DPD Sheffield – Unit 11, Cowley Way, Sheffield, S35 1QP.
Responsibilities
- Serving as the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service when collecting or delivering parcels
- Starting your shift at the depot and loading parcels onto the 3.5 tonne van
- Following a daily delivery schedule and managing your route to ensure timely collections and deliveries
- Safely operating and maintaining the 3.5 tonne van, and adhering to traffic laws and company policies
- Accurately scanning and recording parcel information using handheld devices
- Collecting signatures and other proof of delivery from customers
- Reporting delivery issues, vehicle problems, or customer concerns to your supervisor
- Maintaining a clean and organised van, conducting daily vehicle checks, and reporting maintenance needs
- Adapting to changing weather conditions and adjusting delivery approach accordingly
- Collaborating with depot staff and other drivers to ensure smooth operations
- Wearing the provided uniform and PPE at all times while on duty
- Demonstrating the core DPD DNA Values of honesty, respect, passion, flexibility, caring and accountability
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Held a full UK driving licence and had regular driving experience for 12 months or more
- Recognise the value of providing great customer service
- Can work to deadlines, are flexible and always go above and beyond
- Are friendly, approachable, positive, resourceful and professional
- Are able to multi-task and problem solve
- Have the ability to lift, load and carry parcels weighing up to 25kg/30kg
- Possess excellent time management and organisational skills
- Have a good level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Have basic computer skills and the ability to use handheld devices
- Are comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Have a good knowledge of local roads and geography
