Contract Type: Permanent / 40 Hours Per Week

Salary: Circa £40,000 plus bonus

Location: DPD Basingstoke - Horizon 5, Basingstoke, RG24 8QL

Multiple shifts available:

  • Sortation - Tuesday to Saturday: 00:00 - 08:30
  • Tuesday to Saturday: 12:00 - 20:30
  • CLM - Sunday to Thursday: 05:00 - 13:30

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager, to help strengthen our depot operations management team. In this role you will be working closely with our Depot Management team to ensure your site is resourced correctly. This will involve planning staff numbers for self employed Owner Drivers (OD's), employed drivers, warehouse operatives and back office functions. Effective planning to cover the summer holiday period and Peak trading times will be critical. You will liaise with multiple areas of the business. This will include Franchise, People and Talent, Recruitment, Neuven and Regional Management to maintain and enhance our outstanding service.

Other key accountabilities:

  • Ensure depot targets for ODF (Franchisees) is achieved and that the mix of single route drivers and multi route drivers is kept to target.
  • Ensure DR drivers are kept at a target of 1.5 DR's per route.
  • Ensure that both the agency warehouse operative percentage vs employed warehouse operative resource is kept to target.
  • Ensure that employed drivers including 7.5 Tonne resource is kept to target.
  • Ensure that back office resources are kept to target.
  • Ensure that holiday planning and peak resource plans are completed, communicated effectively and implemented.
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation and systems are completed accurately and in line with company and/or legislative requirements.
  • Working to set Key Performance Indicators including Resource, Productivity, Transport and Health and Safety.

Qualifications:

What we’re looking for; As the successful candidate you will have gained experience working within a fast paced and dynamic environment. Knowledge of the logistics or distribution industry would be advantageous. Previous experience or knowledge in people resource planning is preferred. We would also expect:

  • The ability to engage and build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in a variety of formats.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
