Job Description
- Serve as the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service during parcel collection and delivery
- Ensure timely and accurate collection and delivery of parcels according to scheduled routes
- Assist with loading and unloading parcels at the depot and customer locations
- Manage a daily schedule of approximately 50–60 stops in your designated area
- Utilise provided equipment, such as a sack barrow/hand truck, to safely handle heavier items
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and any issues encountered during your shift
- Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies whilst operating the 7.5‑tonne vehicle
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Use handheld devices and company software to update delivery statuses and communicate with the depot
- Resolve customer queries and concerns professionally and efficiently
- Adapt to changing weather conditions and adjust your delivery approach accordingly
- Collaborate with depot staff and other drivers to ensure smooth operations and workload distribution
- Maintain a clean and presentable appearance, representing DPD to our customers
Qualifications
- Valid 7.5T (C1) licence, DQC (Driver Qualification Card) and CPC accreditation
- Clean driving record with no more than 3 penalty points
- At least 1 year of experience driving 7.5‑tonne vehicles or similar
- Recognise the value of providing great customer service
- Can work to deadlines, are flexible and always go above and beyond
- Friendly, approachable, positive, resourceful and professional
- Ability to multi‑task and problem solve
- Can lift, load and carry heavy items up to 25 kg
- Excellent time‑management and organisational skills
- Good knowledge of local road networks and traffic patterns
- Work well under pressure and maintain a calm demeanour in challenging situations
- Comfortable using handheld devices and basic computer software
- Physically fit and able to handle the demands of a physically active job
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices
