Contract: 15 month fixed term contract / 37.5 hours

Location: Smethwick-Roebuck Lane, West Midlands, B66 1BY

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:30

Our Senior Finance Manager is looking to recruit an outstanding Finance Manager to join their high performing team based in our Head Office in Smethwick. Your primary responsibilities will be to ensure the business requirements for IFRS 16, Capital Expenditure and Leasing are all delivered to an exceptional standard, to drive operational efficiencies within the team and to deliver key business projects.

Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversee IFRS 16 reporting for UK and Group purposes (including maintaining accurate records within our leasing software)
  • Prepare detailed financial plans and forecasts related to IFRS 16 and lease commitments
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and scenario modelling to assist stakeholders with decision making
  • Oversee Capital Expenditure including reviewing monthly reporting to Directors and Senior Management and ensuring we achieve our year end target
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager with all Leasing requirements of the business (to include overseeing tenders with a panel of approved funders)
  • Review and sign-off of Balance Sheet reconciliations including Assets Under Construction
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager with internal and external audit processes / requests

Qualifications

Ideally you will be a commercially astute and fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 3 years post qualification practical experience. We would also expect you to hold a minimum of a 2:1 degree in any discipline and Grade C or above GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English. You will have a right first time mentality and a solid grasp of management accounting principles/ practices. An in-depth knowledge of the IFRS 16 accounting standard is preferable but not a necessity. Strong financial awareness and the ability to control costs by thinking in terms of profit, loss and added value and the ability to monitor performance against deadlines and milestones is critical.

As a Finance Manager you will partner with key stakeholders within the Infrastructure and Health and Safety department building excellent rapport and relationships in order to achieve financial objectives. You will identify and drive operational efficiencies and deliver key business projects using your commercial acumen and expertise. You’ll also be able to evidence:

  • Proven experience of operating at a Finance Manager or equivalent level role, coupled with the know-how and confidence to present clear and simple results in a cost focused setting
  • Outstanding analytical skills and attention to detail; able to manipulate and interrogate numerical data, verbal data and all other sources of information quickly and effectively
  • Strong planning and forecasting abilities, backed by a genuine desire to get to know the business and really understand the activities and underlying cost drivers behind it
  • Advanced Excel plus a good knowledge of reporting tools
  • Involvement in the successful delivery of project based activities
  • First rate communication and interpersonal skills

A Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role.
